The Bothe-Napa State Park offers camping as well as Yurt and cabin stays. There are plenty of hiking trails and a soon to open bike trail that connects the park to the cities of Calistoga and St. Helena. There is also a Calistoga shuttle bus that makes a stop here.

We visit historic Gold Hill, NV just outside of Virginia City, at the Gold Hill Hotel and Saloon. The hotel dates back to 1859 and is the oldest hotel in the state of Nevada. The mining and railroad history can be found just steps out of the hotel. We may not have seen a ghost, but we met a pretty sneaky cat!

Visit the ruins, enjoy a picnic, or relax along the Carson River at Fort Churchill State Park in Nevada. The fort was built in 1860 to protect early settlers as well as the Pony Express route. Admission is $5 per vehicle ($10 non-Nevada resident). The park also offers a small campground.
GRIMES POINT ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA
A short 1/4 mile trail leads to a wonderful assortment of Native American Petroglyphs, some as old as 7000 years. Along with restrooms and picnic areas, this is a great stop along Nevada's loneliest road, Hwy 50.
A late 1800's silver boom town, Hamilton NV was once home to more than 10,000 people. Although the high elevation weather over time, as well as multiple fires have done a number on the town, there are still many ruins to explore.
Exploring the Belmont Mill in the high elevation area of the White Pine region
